Representative Pritchard Visits with Winning DeKalb High School Team.

DeKalb County , December 2007 – Representative Bob Pritchard visited an economics class at DeKalb High School to discuss the impact of state fiscal policies upon youth. He pointed out how current state borrowing and spending decisions affect taxes and obligations on citizens for decades to come. Members of Scott Schumacher's consumer economics class at DeKalb High School recently applied their classroom learning about finances and investing to The Stock Market Game™ program, which is coordinated for the state by the Illinois Council on Economic Education and funded by Citigroup Foundation. Rep. Pritchard talked with the team of students who won third place in the Illinois Capitol Challenge, a special competition component within the Stock Market Game.

The Illinois Capital Challenge partners legislators with teams of students in their district who are participating in The Stock Market Game™ program. Pritchard also encouraged the students to follow the news about state and federal government economic policies and not be afraid to share their opinions with legislators and the Governor.
