Candidate Bob Pritchard Stands for Public Accountability
Today the Institute for Truth in Accounting is announcing that Bob Pritchard has signed the Institutes' Public Accountability Pledge, which means, if elected, he will commit to providing correct and truthful financial and budget information to his constituents.
The importance of this pledge cannot be overstated.
The Institute has discovered that Illinois' elected officials have mistakenly claimed balanced budgets for more than twenty years, yet the state debt continues to increase. The state's audited financial report confirms the Institute's opinion indicating more than $40 billion of debt has been accumulated, while elected officials have told the public that the budgets have been balanced.
“We are pleased that Bob Pritchard understands the importance of providing truthful budget numbers to the public,” said Sheila Weinberg, CEO and founder of the Institute. “Without such information the public cannot be informed participants in the budget process or feel confident that the state's future financial strength will remain uncompromised.”
The Institute, founded in 2002, is a nonprofit organization with no political affiliations. Its members include leaders of the business, academic and governmental worlds from Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. For more information visit: www.truthinaccounting.org and www.truthin2008.org
