Springfield , IL…State Representative Bob Pritchard (R-Hinckley) welcomed members of the Sycamore Cross Country Team to Springfield Thursday. The Division 2A State Champions were honored by the General Assembly for their win through House Resolution 885 sponsored by Pritchard.
“Sycamore High School has had an exceptional team over the last several years, and their hard work took them all the way to number one this year,” said Pritchard. “Their outstanding dedication and focus is commendable. The General Assembly congratulates them on their victory.”
In 2006, the Sycamore High School Cross Country Team clenched the first Sectional title in school history. Then last fall, the team, coached by Michael Lambdin and David Liszka, became IHSA Division 2A State Team Champions defeating the best teams across the state by a 116 point margin – one of the widest margins ever in state history.
Sycamore High School Cross Country Team members include Derek Campbell, Alex Courtney, Nick Fagan, Peter Grimson, Stephan Hueber, Tim Roloff, John Windelborn, Ryan Wolf, Hans Anderson, Aaron Eischeid, Mathew Gilmer, Keaton Leach, David Martin, Lucas Ruff, Anthony Salis, Chris Hammes, and Steven Konwinski.
“Our community can be very proud of these young athletes,” said Pritchard.
During their visit to the state capital, the team was recognized in the House and Senate chambers and had an opportunity to attend an education committee hearing. Team members also went to the Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. In addition, they met with Lt. Governor Pat Quinn and House Republican Leader Tom Cross and attended education committee hearing.
